The ICC was created to provide inspiration and careers advice for TAFE, undergraduate and postgraduate students at Victorian colleges and universities. The first conference was held at the University of Melbourne in 2005 and attracted over 200 participants. Last year we were at the MCG and attracted over 350 participants.
The event is designed to appeal to anyone seeking information about international careers in government and diplomacy, international development, business and law. Speakers are selected for their varied international experiences and expertise in their chosen field.
The conference is structured around themed plenary and breakout sessions. This year there will be three breakouts each in the morning and afternoon. Tentatively, the morning program will address career opportunities in diplomacy, security and intelligence, international business and international project management while the afternoon program will cover aid, careers with intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations and international volunteering.
Organizations presenting on the day will also be providing careers information in the venue foyer. Sponsoring universities will also be making information available about opportunities for postgraduate study. Time is set aside in the morning and afternoon programs to allow for browsing and networking.
The ICC will be limited to 300 participants in 2008.
Early bird registration is $25.00 and bookings can be made for the full day only.
Registration commences on 21 July. Early bird registration closes on Friday 15 August, after which tickets will be charged at $30.00. Prices include morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch.
Forms are now available. In previous years, the conference has been booked out one week prior to the event. In order to secure a booking at the Conference, attendees will need to download the registration document (pdf) and send it along with payment to the AIIAV office.
Attendees will be able to sign up for AIIAV membership on the day. Please visit our
Membership page for more information. Alternatively, we encourage you to attend one of our weekly events to hear from leading speakers on international affairs, to meet AIIAV council members, student members, and learn more about the Institute.
